Procession of the Species and SOLSTICE Exhibit

Playhouse Gallery - Overture Center

Madison’s Procession of the Species is a community art parade celebrating biodiversity that was initiated by Madison artist, puppeteer and art teacher Laurie Rossbach. Hand crafted masks and giant puppets made by Laurie Rossbach and community members will be on display in the Playhouse Gallery.

Megan Monday and Brijetta Waller's SOLSTICE will premiere on May 11th during the opening reception for the exhibit. SOLSTICE is a short film documenting the Procession and explores personal and community transformation through art. Video art and stills from the film will also be featured in the Playhouse Gallery.

 

Opening Reception: Friday, May 11 6:30-8:30pm in the Playhouse Gallery

SOLSTICE film premiere at 7pm in the Rotunda Studio

 

Community Puppet Making Workshop

SAT, MAY 19, 11 AM - 3 PM

Wisconsin Studio, 3rd Floor Overture Center

Create giant butterfly puppets from recycled materials with Laurie Rossbach will be holding a free as part of the Procession of the Species.

Closing Procession

SAT, JUN 16, 12-1 PM - Meet in the Playhouse Gallery at 12 noon

Join the family friendly biodiversity art parade through Overture Center and around the Farmers Market with music by the FORWARD! Marching Band.

TAKE A STAKE IN THE LAKES

June 9, 9am-Meeting place TBD

We will provide gloves, trash bags, snacks and beverages.

Please bring a canoe if you have one and bring your friends.

Let us know if you would like to help, but need a space in one of the provided canoes.
